Meet The Twins1968 Daimler 250 - Wedding Car Hire
A 1960's Wedding Theme
Charlie & Archie are matching Daimler 250's. They both have cream leather interior and ivory coloured paintwork. Being built in 1968 made them part of the “Swinging Sixties”. World wide, 1968 was the year of war and assassination. Students demonstrated against the war in Vietnam and Dr Martin Luther King Jr and Robert Kennedy were assassinated.
Each car can be hired individually.
On a lighter note it was a very exciting time for fashion designers such as Mary Quant, and Zandra Rhodes They introduced space-age and wet look designs, pantsuits, mini skirts and dresses. Zandra Rhodes designed a paper wedding dress which sold for less than two shillings(ten pence) during the brief period of popularity enjoyed by disposable clothing .
The music scene was bursting with talented artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Donovan, Jimi Hendrix, and Cliff Richard.
The average price of a house was £4344.00 and a gallon of petrol cost 5 shillings and five pence(28new pence). The price to buy either Charlie or Archie new? £1700.00.

1968 Daimler 250 owned by Mr K Rose of Worcestershire.
The Daimler 2.5 V8 (or 2½-litre V8) was a four-door saloon produced in Coventry by Daimler.
Launched late in 1962 it was essentially a rebadged Jaguar Mark 2 fitted with Daimler's particularly smooth 2.5-litre V8 engine and drive-train, a special Daimler fluted (furrowed brow) grille and rear number plate surround, distinctive wheel trims, badges, and interior details (such as a split-bench front seat and a black enamel steering wheel) and special interior and exterior colours with its soft V8 burble a casual observer, though not its driver, might mistake it for a Jaguar Mark 2. Most cars were fitted with power-assisted steering but it was optional. Automatic transmission was standard, manual with or without overdrive became an option in 1967.
